As a practitioner, Monica strives to understand the uniqueness of the individual's constitution and his or her personal blocks to health. She combines her acupuncture training, herbal therapy, and hands-on physical and energetic modalities in order to bring awareness to the physical and energetic blocks in the body that inhibit reaching our full potential.

Education And Studies

In her B.A. studies at the University of California Santa Cruz she majored in Medical Anthropology and Human Biology, and went on to study various forms of movement and energetic therapies including massage, craniosacral therapy, and herbal studies.

In 2000, her training with yoga inspired her to study the Chinese meridian system in relationship to her Hatha yoga practice. She initiated formal training in Oriental Medicine in 2005 and received her Masters degree in Oriental Medicine from the National College of Natural Medicine in 2009, where she took advantage of extra courses in Qigong, Taichi, and Shiatsu.

Bodywork Training

From 2007 to 2010 she mentored with Bill Frazier LAc, whose unique treatment style of combining 5 Element Acupuncture with manual qigong techniques inspired her to incorporate qigong and craniosacral therapy within her Acupuncture treatments.

In 2010, she began studying Biodynamic Massage and Biodynamic Cranial Therapy with Todd Jackson and completed an intensive 9 month mentorship with him in 2012. She continues to study with him regularly, and integrates these skills into her bodywork practice.

In 2014, Monica completed Carol Gray's training in Craniosacral Therapy for Infants, and has been lucky enough to work regularly with newborns and infants in her office at the Aurora Family Health and Midwifery Clinic.
